I hit 18 months this week!!

I will get Elder Hendersons letter transcribed but from his pictures it looks like they do a fair amount of eating!! I know the members and thier friends spoil them with parties and food during the Chinese New Year celebration. Elder Henderson mentioned that the Chinese New year is officially over and the people are back to work and school. So, unfortunately the parties and food will slow for now!!

Hello, I'm sorry I have not been able to do a voice recording lately.
I have been very busy. We have had a super good week!!
Pretty crazy, but very fun! So glad to be able to talk to you about it.
So, to start, last Monday we went over to Costco and had some pizza.
We just chilled and rested. It has been very tiring! Last Tuesday we
went on exchanges and I went with Elder Hoffman from Alpine, he went
to Lone Peak High School. He is super awesome and a super super good
Elder. He has been out one year. It was super fun to go with him. We tried
something called The Book of Mormon experiment, we walked around with
pages of the Book of Mormon that we had printed out and we were inviting
people to just read one page of the Book of Mormon and see what they got
out of it. What they thought about it and how it applied to them. Also, what it
had to do with them and their relationship with God. It was super cool to see
how it affected different people and what people marked. Yes we gave them
a marker so they could mark on the page. They could Mark the parts that they
liked. We gave them Mosiah chapter 4 vers. 8 through 16. It was super cool.
That was Tuesday to Wednesday. We went to their District training and
talked about how we can be more unified as a Zone. And more charitable
to the members, the investigators and to each other as missionaries. Their
District leader Elder Hoffman gave a training on the importance of addressing
families while teaching the gospel. It made me think back about my family and
how much I love you all, kind of discuss what ways we can help others feel
happiness that our family gives us as we live the gospel. Thursday we went
on another exchange with Elder Brenchley. He is the one from Logan who
has a basketball scholarship to University of Utah. And Ashton knows his dad.
It is a super small world. He has been out as long as Elder Strong. He has
been in Taiwan for about 6 months and his Chinese is very good. He is a
super hard worker. We had a lot of fun and we had the opportunity to
contact together and visit some members and talk with them and share
the gospel. It was super super good. It was a very fun and uplifting, learning
experience on that Exchange.
The past couple of days one of the sisters in our district has been super
super sick. We have been taking them meals and we gave her a priesthood
blessing the other night. It was a super special experience. We went over
there and she was struggling, and to give her a priesthood blessing was
super special. To see how much heavenly father loves each one of us
and how he cares so much about each one of us. We went to church on
Sunday we had Three Investigators come which was super awesome.
We had Leon who is getting baptized on March 10th and we are meeting
with him again tonight. He is a super awesome 19 year old college student.
The missionaries were meeting with him before I got to the area. I have
been meeting with him for about the last month since I've gotten here.
He is finally ready to make the step to baptism. We also have a lady
named sister G, she lives in the area and found out about our free English
class online and she showed up. After English class we set up an appointment
to meet and teach her. It ended up going super well. Her English is very
good, she lived in Australia for a while. What we decided to do was to
teach her the lessons in English. But we realize about a third of the way
through the lesson that she wasn't understanding. So it was getting a little
too much English, so we switch to Chinese and it went a lot better. We
had a ward member there helping us with the lesson and he was able to
share with her some experiences that helped her out a lot. We have a
guy named Ken. We met him on the street a couple of weeks ago. And
shared with him about the restoration and gave him the Book of Mormon
and invited him to church. It was super cool that he came. I believe he
had a great experience at church and met some members. We are working
with those three and a couple of others that were not able to come today.
We were supposed to have interviews this last week with President Teh.
Our whole Zone was able to have their interviews with elder Teh, but Me
and Elder Densley and the Sister training leaders. Pres. Teh had to get
back to Taichung faster than anticipated. So we have to find a follow-up
time to do our interviews with Elder Teh. Yesterday after church we had
a miracle, we were riding our bikes over to a member's house to make a
surprise visit and say hi. When we ran into a guy on the street who had
been baptized about eight or nine years ago and had not been active
since. So he hadn't been to church in a very very long time, he explained
to us on the side of the street that he feels that God hates him and that
God has forgotten him. He thinks these things because of all of the
mistakes he has made in his life, he was really really sad. I truly believe
the real reason we went to those members home last night was to run
into him on the street. We were able to talk to him... He told us he did
not remember much about the church but he did remember a priesthood
blessing that the Elders had given him. He said if there's any time I need
a blessing, it is now. We asked him if he could meet us at the church and
go talk. We can discuss it. We went over to the church and sat down with
him and he opened up and said God hates me and God has forgotten
me because I have made some very bad bad mistakes. I don't think God
can ever forgive me. We had a super good opportunity to testify to him
about repentance and The Atonement. It was fun to see his countenance
change as we taught him. We taught him that God has not left him, it
was a super amazing experience. It was awesome to share this eternal
truth with him and how this can make such a change in his life and continue
to make change in his life. This can change his life as he makes better
choices and moves towards repentance. I hope you all have a great
week, I love you so much!!
Bye

This is a quote from the Bible, we don't exactly know where in the Bible but basically it says the god's you carve are not our real God and you need to worship our living God!

Happy Chinese New Year!

We have had a great week in Jiayi.  I am really enjoying this area and being around the people here. To Start the week, we went on exchanges with the Assistants. I went with Elder Fear from South Carolina and really enjoyed it, I was focusing on "asking questions in order to minister to the one." We met with one of their investigators and she ended up sharing how she felt as she partook of the sacrament, which led right into a baptismal invite that she accepted.  It was amazing! I love teaching the Gospel.

This week Elder Densley and I had a miracle as well.  We were able to meet with a referral from some other missionaries in our district.  The man's name in Brother Xie. We were able to share the Restoration of the Gospel with Him, and he asked some great questions that really helped Him better understand in depth the message.  After contemplating with real intent, He accepted a baptismal goal for the end of March.  It was amazing to see such a humble man, truly wanting to know if it is true, and then make a decision to have faith in Christ.  As He prayed to end the lesson, the spirit was so strong. Watching someone discover truth for them self, and them feeling the spirit of God, is one of the most special things i have ever been apart of.

In studies I was really focusing on making the sacrament a more important part of my week in order to help our investigators do the same.  I studied Elder Meurs talk about the sacrament from October 2016 conference side by side with 2 Nephi 31 and learned how weekly renewing our covenants/promises we have made with God through the sacrament, has everything to do with the Doctrine of Jesus Christ.  I had one of the most special sacrament services of my life as I prepared more than ever before for it.

I have recently been studying in 2 Nephi, particularly the last couple chapters. Some on my favorite verses:

2 Nephi 25:23,26

23 For we labor diligently to write, to persuade ourchildren, and also our brethren, to believe in Christ, and tobe reconciled to God; for we know that it is by grace thatwe are saved, after all we can do.
26 And we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach ofChrist, we prophesy of Christ, and we write according toour prophecies, that our children may know to whatsource they may look for remission of their sins.

2 Nephi 33:10-11

10 And now, my beloved brethren, and also Jewand all yeends of the earth, hearken unto these words and believe inChrist; and if ye believe not in these words believe inChrist. And if ye shall believe in Christ ye will believe inthese wordsfor they are the words of Christ, and he hathgiven them unto me; and they teach all men that theyshould do good.
11 And if they are not the words of Christ, judge ye—forChrist will show unto you, with power and great glory,that they are his words, at the last day; and you and shallstand face to face before his bar; and ye shall know that Ihave been commanded of him to write these things,notwithstanding my weakness.
The Book of Mormon has been the means by which I have learned about my Savior the most.  I know He lives and loves us, and everything He has ever done has been inline with the will of our Heavenly Father.  He came down to earth and lived a perfect life in order to raise us up, to pick us up when we're down, and to calm our troubled soul. Since I have been on my mission, I have gained a love for my Savior that has influenced my life for the best.  I am grateful for the opportunity to help other's come to the knowledge of Jesus Christ.  This is my personal experience as I have made the effort to allow Christ into my life, I hope you all can have the same experience.  Let him in, by studying his life, keeping the commandments, praying, and going to church.  It will make you happier :)))
Love you all!
Elder Henderson

During the Chinese New Year the Elders are invited over multiple times a day for a meal! Their friends are so kind and generous to the Elders!
