Nothing too out of the ordinary this week! On Wednesday and Thursday I went on exchanges with an Elder in our district. He is super awesome and a hard worker, there area is a little far away and in the middle of no where (no train station). So we road our bikes an hour to get there! We met with a referral from a member in their ward with quite a bit of interest in Jesus Christ! He taught me a lot about going about the work of the Lord humbly and doing your part and relying on the Lord for the rest. Me and this Elder had never taught a lesson together before, and the lesson kinda came out of no where, but it went great. We shared the Restoration with him and went very smooth! The power of the holy spirit! Loosening the tongues of the weak, to proclaim the true gospel!
On Tuesday we traveled to one of the cities away from douliu that is part of our area. It was about and hour or so bike ride there. That is where the humble chu qu guang lives! He is a referral from the Taibei mission and is awesome! He is a friend of our Bishop and loves the power and peace the gospel brings to his life. Usually the Bishop or a member will drive us out to meet, but there was a stake activity and no one could make it, so we biked! We read with him in the Book of Mormon and committed him to baptism! He has a deep and sincere desire to follow our Savior Jesus Christ. I am very grateful for the opportunity to help him learn from the spirit about these eternal truths. Even though we haven't know him long, I can already see a change in him, and it's a good change!
A story that has really helped me realize that everyone has their own timing and is prepared at different times to hear and accept the gospel was shared with me by one of my previous companions. In one of his previous wards there was a women who joined the church over 20 years ago and faithfully took her 3 kids to church every week for 19 YEARS. While her husband didn't have any interest in accompanying them. She went to church, she had a calling, and taught her children the gospel. As she expressed with my comp she loved going to church because of the spirit it brought into her home, and the high standards it taught her children. She said she spent much time in prayer and fasting for her husbands heart to be softened towards the church. After 17 years in the church her son served a mission!! Through out his mission her husband supported and started to soften his heart. He started reading scriptures with them, going to church on occasion, and praying, but did not want to join. When their son returned faithfully from his mission, and after seeing his change. The father decided it was time to take the missionary discussions. My comp was priviledged to teach this man. He was baptized! I am convinced that the Lord and our Heavenly Father have a plan for each of us. Maybe right now one of our family members is not prepared to accept, but everyday is closer until the one day when they will be ready. As long as we are doing what we need to and being a good example. OUR FAMILIES WILL BE TOGETHER FOREVER. They will come around to the gospel!
"A study of the Gospel will change behavior faster than a study of behavior will change behavior." -Boyd K. Packer.
If you want to change for the better, pick up a Book of Mormon, start to pray everyday, and go to church. Our Heavenly Father has given us such a simple way to come to know him!
I love you all thanks for the love and support!!
