It has been another great week in Douliu!! The work continues to move forward, and the experiences we are having strengthen my testimony of this latter-day work everyday. I am humble and blessed for the opportunity to serve the Lord.
One of our first days in Douliu we met a 17 year old senior in high school at a 7-11 and have met with him three or four times now. On Saturday, We decided to sit down and read from the Book of Mormon with him. We have been wanting to commit him to baptism but haven't felt like it was the right setting to do so. So me and Elder Strong thought and believed reading about it in the most true book of the planet would get the point across better. We read through 2 Nephi 32 and as we read about the commandment to be baptized, we had a very strong impression to invite him, And he said Yes!!! It was soo awesome and I truly believe the spirit testified to him, it was what he needed to do. We have still got a ways to go, He is not sure if his parents will be okay with it but we believe as he prays for the help, it will come.
This week I was reading in 2 Nephi 10 and came across verse 25 it reads "...reconcile yourselves to the will of God." In the dictionary Reconcile means 'to find an acceptable way of dealing with 2 or more ideas, needs, etc. that seem to be opposed to eachother' Sometimes our will is different than God's, But He is all knowing and full of love. He knows what is best for us, and sometimes our will is not really in line with what he needs of us or what he knows we need. As I read this I realized i need to be humble enough and have enough faith to accept his will. Even when what I want contradicts what he needs of me, we need to be willing to change, and as we accept his "love inspired corrections" we are molded into the disciples of Christ and people he need's us to be.
I love this work and grateful for the opportunity to serve my Savior for two years. My life has been changed eternally by the experience I am having out here. I am forever grateful.
"And remember, after ye are reconciled unto God, that it is only in and through the grace of God that ye are saved." I love this eternal truth.
Love Elder Henderson
