Yoooo!!

Had a very good week here in Douliu! We have seen some amazing things happen and have been very grateful for the to opportunity to be a part of it.  This week we were able to set two new investigators on date for baptism! Through the mercy of the Lord, they have agreed to start making steps towards commitments with their Heavenly Father. It is crazy to me how we are always placed right where these prepared souls are, as long as we are doing what we are supposed to.  The Lord works in amazing ways.  One of the best feelings in the world is sitting down with someone who has such a pure desire to understand truth and is willing to commit to act upon the truth they are coming to know is from God.

I love this work, even though it is hard sometimes. I have really come to rely on my testimony, and the things I know to be true.  Life could not get any better.  I can't wait to start this second half of training with Elder Strong!

This week I studied the teaching of Abinadi to King Noah in Mosiah.  Those are some very powerful chapters, His testimony of the Savior is one gained through experience, is what is sounds like to me.  He truly knows that it is only through Christ's name we will be saved. I love his example of courage in standing up for the truth.  And His one convert changed the world.  I have realized a testimony of this latter-day work is gained through experience. You got to work for it.  If you don't have a testimony of it,  like President Monson said "Do what is required to obtain a testimony."

Ether 12:6 "Dispute not because ye see not, for ye receive no witness until after the trial of you faith."  Have faith and act.  Pray to our Heavenly Father, Read his word, and go to church.  After you put forth effort, through the Lord's love and mercy, you will receive a testimony.  I know that to be true.

Thanks for all the love and support!

Great Week!

It has been a great week!  Lot's of things are starting to fall into place and we have been blessed with some great investigators up until this point.  I have been grateful to see the change it has brought into people's lives.  Last week I talked about our investigator who hadn't really been reading, and we read with him in 2 nephi 31 and he committed to baptism. Well this week we followed up more than we ever have before and we got the next meeting and he had read 19 chapters!!!!! It was so awesome, and as he told us that I about started to tear up.  To see someone keep a commitment like that, and really keep it! I was touched and he personally had progressed so much!  It strengthened my testimony of the power of the Book of Mormon!

This week I was able to study Mosiah chapter 14 and wow that is a good chapter.  I love the way it describes the role of our Savior and what His Atonement really means. Verse 5 "But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed." To know that this scripture is the word of God brings peace to my soul.  I am grateful for our Savior and I truly believe my relationship with Him is strengthened everyday!  I love this work.

Thank you for the love and support!  Love you all!

The Work Continues to move forward!

HELLO!!!

It has been another great week in Douliu!! The work continues to move forward, and the experiences we are having strengthen my testimony of this latter-day work everyday. I am humble and blessed for the opportunity to serve the Lord.

One of our first days in Douliu we met a 17 year old senior in high school at a 7-11 and have met with him three or four times now.  On Saturday, We decided to sit down and read from the Book of Mormon with him.  We have been wanting to commit him to baptism but haven't felt like it was the right setting to do so.  So me and Elder Strong thought and believed reading about it in the most true book of the planet would get the point across better.  We read through 2 Nephi 32 and as we read about the commandment to be baptized, we had a very strong impression to invite him, And he said Yes!!!  It was soo awesome and I truly believe the spirit testified to him, it was what he needed to do.  We have still got a ways to go,  He is not sure if his parents will be okay with it but we believe as he prays for the help, it will come.

This week I was reading in 2 Nephi 10 and came across verse 25 it reads "...reconcile yourselves to the will of God."  In the dictionary Reconcile means 'to find an acceptable way of dealing with 2 or more ideas, needs, etc. that seem to be opposed to eachother'  Sometimes our will is different than God's, But He is all knowing and full of love. He knows what is best for us, and sometimes our will is not really in line with what he needs of us or what he knows we need.  As I read this I realized i need to be humble enough and have enough faith to accept his will.  Even when what I want contradicts what he needs of me, we need to be willing to change, and as we accept his "love inspired corrections" we are molded into the disciples of Christ and people he need's us to be.

I love this work and grateful for the opportunity to serve my Savior for two years.  My life has been changed eternally by the experience I am having out here.  I am forever grateful.
"And remember, after ye are reconciled unto God, that it is only in and through the grace of God that ye are saved."  I love this eternal truth.

Love Elder Henderson

The work is really starting to pick up here.....

It has been a great week here in Douliu! The work is really starting to pick up here, and we are seeing  many miracles daily! I am greatful for the chance to serve with such a faith filled missionary, Elder Strong.  We have found some great people with sincere interest in the gospel, and have been having a great time meeting with them and sharing the gospel.

This week a scripture kept popping into my head.  In Mosiah when Alma proclaims "Oh the mercy of the Lord", I truly feel like I am starting to understanding with meaning of this phrase and the emotion that is portrayed in it by Alma, as he was redeemed from his sins.  I am grateful for our Savior Jesus Christ and the daily Redemption and help  I receive from Him.  It is starting to play a bigger and bigger role in my life.

I know Douliu is where the two of us need to be right now, and I truly feel big things are coming for the people and especially the ward here.  I love the work and am humbled and blessed to be apart of it.  Thank you everyone for the love and support!!

Have a great week!
