Lots of Rain and Miracles

Solid week full of lots and lots of raining, and miracles! Sister Liu was able to get confirmed on Sunday! It was super awesome to see her take this next step in her conversion.

This week we had Zone Conference and after lots of prayer we have decided to focus more on different parts of the work.  We are really trying to start including the members more in the work.  We have been looking over lot's of old records and things from past Elder's here and the most success has come from working good with the member. We have noticed as we include the members more in the work it goes a lot smoother and they are willing and wanting to help a lot more!  This week at Zone conference we talked about a talk given by Russell M. Nelson at a devotional about Divine Law.  Divine Law's from God promise us that if we obey God, no matter how big or small will always come. We have consequences in everything whether good or bad, and as we recognize this we can be a lot more open to God's blessings and help others receive them as well.  Really can help us have more confidence in promising blessings to investigators.  Promising they will receive an answer if they put in the effort! It is a very powerful talk!

One night we were just headed home normally when we turned a corner to see 3 scooters in front of us.  All of a sudden the one in the front flipped around and started driving directly at me and comp right as we turned the corner.  He weaved in between the two of us and then took off down the road. At first we thought it was super weird and had no idea what was going on, but all of a sudden the two other scooters in front of us turned on their lights, turned around, and started to follow the guy.  They were cops!! We got stuck right in the middle of this police chase! Pretty crazy but we are all good! hahah

We met a super awesome girl this week who came to church and absolutely loved it,  we had an awesome lesson last night and she is now on track for baptism in May!! The Lord is preparing souls to hear his gospel!

Sorry I don't have a lot of time to write this, this week! But i love you alll have a great week!!

Because He lives again, We too can live again!

Hello and Happy Easter! I hope you all had a great Easter and had the chance to think back about the Savior and all he has done for us. We had an awesome week here! First week with a new comp, and it's going really good. He is awesome, going to be a fun transfer!

Liu Jiemei was baptized on Saturday!! The baptismal service was great and the spirit was there so strong.  She has such a strong testimony and it has been a huge testimony builder to me to see her grow in the gospel over the passed couple months. One of the most special things about the whole service to me as I look back on it, is that her 5 and 7 year daughters, and sister were all able to see her make sacred covenants with our Father in Heaven.  She is being such a great example to all of them, and because of liu jiemei's decision, these two young girls get to be raised in the gospel.

Last night we were not having very much success and we were a little discouraged, it was one of those nights no one wanted to talk to us. But in my mind I knew there was one person that we needed to find. But as we went door to door no one wanted to listen. Pretty soon it was time to go home and we started biking back to the apartment, but i still had this feeling we would find someone.  We got about 7 minutes down the road when a thought hit me to go back to where we just tracted, my first thought was we can't, we are already like half way home, but it just kept getting stronger and stronger so I finally turned around.  At first i think Elder Warner was wondering what in the world i was doing lol. I had no idea where i needed to go, i just knew i needed to turn around.  So we headed back to the street i thought we had completely tracted and without even thinking i just pulled in front of a house and new we had to talk to them.  I knocked on the door and a lady answered, we told her we were missionaries, She was Christian and so we told her we were sharing about the restoration of Jesus Christ's church.  She was very intrigued and had never known why we have so many Christian churches on the Earth.  We basically shared the whole Jospeh Smith story and the Book of Mormon as his experience's evidence.  She told us she has lots of interest in learning and we could come back next week and share more.

As I look back on this experience, I thank the Lord for humbling me enough to listen to even the smallest of promptings.  It may not always be the most convenient to do, but it is the Lord's will, and you will be blessed more than you can ever imagine if you are willing to listen and act!  I have seen this countless times on my mission. I know that this is the Lord's church and he is actively guiding his work, I am a witness of it!

With Easter this week, I read in 3 Nephi about the Savior's appearance to the America's.  It truly is amazing what the savior did for us.  The more time I am out here, I rely more and more on the savior and enabling power of the atonement.! One of the most humbling things about being a missionary is realizing that you represent the greatest man to ever walk the earth.  He did so much for us so we can overcome our sorrows, weaknesses, challenges, sin, and death! This Easter I hope you can think a little more about him, and read a little bit in 3 Nephi, starting in chapter 11!

Because He lives again, We too can live again!

Love

Elder Michael Henderson

Transfers!

Well today is my last day with Elder Spach!! He is moving down to be a zone leader in Gaoxiong! Sad to see him go but he will do awesome down there. As for me I am staying in 豐原 another transfer!! My new comp is Elder Warner from Logan, Utah. He's super awesome, it's going to be super fun!

We had a solid last week!  Started out with going to a toilet restaurant on P-day which was pretty fun! everything was in toilets! On Tuesday just had a full day of contacting! On Wednesday, we met with Sister Liu and the bishop and went over all of the baptismal interview questions to get her ready for the interview on Friday! She was SO GREAT and the bishop was just so impressed with her faith and her desire. She is absolutely GOLDEN and ready for baptism! She will be baptized this Saturday afternoon, 4/15.

Thursday we went on exchanges with the zone leaders.  It was super fun and met a lot of cool people!!

Friday we had Sister Liu's baptismal interview and she passed with no problem!! She is so awesome and is so excited for her baptism!! She got out of the interview and we started congratulating her and he just says "I am so happy!!" hahahha we have never heard her speak English before, super funny! And awesome, it is soo cool to see how much happiness the gospel has brought to her life! We can't wait for the baptism, the only sad part is Elder Spach won't be able to attend!

We met with Ethan this week and he let us know that he wasn't really ready to be and would be moving to mainland China the next day.  Super sad but we hope when he gets back in two months we can continue to meet with him!

And then this weekend we watched conference!! Wow it was soooo awesome! I loved President Monson's talk about the Book of Mormon.  Just telling us that if we don't have a testimony of it, just read and pray! You will find it to be true!  I loved this quote in it "My dear associates in the work of the Lord, I implore each of us to prayerfully study and ponder the Book of Mormon each day. As we do so, we will be in a position to hear the voice of the Spirit, to resist temptation, to overcome doubt and fear, and to receive heaven’s help in our lives."

The Book of Mormon is powerful and changes the life of anybody willing to read it!

I LOVE YOU!

Hello everybody back home! Hope you all had a good week with General Conference and everything!! We don't get to watch it here until next weekend but i am soooo excited! We had another great week!! Still preparing for Sister Liu and Ethan to get baptized on the 15th!!

Ethan, this entire week we COULD NOT GET AHOLD OF HIM. His phone was off every day. So on Saturday night, We were like Hey let's go visit him! So we went over to his house and his mom let us in, we went upstairs and knocked on his door. He opened the door and was REALLY surprised to see us, which made us a little bit nervous. He told us to wait for a second while he changed his clothes, and we really didn't know what to expect. But he came out and told us that he had be praying and reading and following all of the commandments, its just that he has been really sick and forgot to charge his cell phone  hahahaha)! He is super great and is really working hard to prepare for 4/15! this week we should have his baptismal interview as well!! Keep him in your prayers!!

On Wednesday morning, we had been contacting for about 3 hours straight and had no success, nobody wanted to talk to us.  At about 1 o'clock we sat down to do our companionship study at a 7/11 and within about 2 minutes of sitting down a 24 year old guy came up to us and asked us what we were sharing about. He was soo awesome, right on the spot we shared with him all about the Book of Mormon. He thought it was super cool and we ended meeting with him a couple other times this week.  He is really progressing and loving the gospel!! On Friday, he asked me out of the blue "What position are you going to play when you are in the NBA?" hahahha super funny!!!
