Great week in Douliu!!

First I want to start off by wishing my beautiful and amazing little sister Mali a happy 10th Birthday!! Love you!!

What a great week it has been here in Douliu.  The Lord's hand has been very apparent in His work here.  We have seen many miracles to strengthen our faith that the Lord is preparing souls to hear his gospel.  Lately I have been thinking about my training experience and how I want Elder Strong's to be the same in some ways and different in other ways.  It has really pushed me to think about and care more for my companion more than ever before! He is a great missionary and will do amazing things here!

This past week we ran into a 28 year old very very Christian taxi driver.  It was a miracle we met him! Right on the spot we shared a lot about the Book of Mormon and differences between our church and other Christian churches. As we talked, he just said to us "Well, when can i come check out your church?" So we scheduled a time, gave him a tour, and shared a powerful first lesson.  The lesson was a special one,  We love the opportunity to teach other Christians mostly because it doesn't happen a lot and I love helping build their belief in Christ.  As we talked about the apostasy and how all these christian churches had good intentions but not the whole truth, his eyes got bigger and he seemed a little confused but more interested then before.  And then we said one line "And then in the year 1820, a young boy had a question".... I just started to tear up. I looked right into the eyes of this righteous seeker of truth, with a belief in Jesus Christ like i have never seen before, and it hit me how special Joseph Smith's experience and how much he needed to hear it. Right then and there I knew it touched him, the spirit testified to us all of the truthfulness of this message.

I am grateful for the daily opportunity to share this message and help these people learn of their Savior and develop faith in Him.  As I have been out here I have learned to rely on him more than ever.  It hasn't been easy but I have learned from experiences I will never forget, how much we really need a Father in Heaven and a Savior. We are forever in debt to them for the love and mercy that they have show to us.  I am humbled at the opportunity to bear the name of Christ on my chest.  Thank you for all the love and support i have received over the past year!  I love you all!

New Area, Training a new Companion and Already seeing Miracles in Douliu!

First I want to say HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO MY PARENTS!  As well as ASHTON AND BUBBA!!  What an adventurous week it has been! Starting off with being with Elder Provard and Elder Barker. They are two amazing missionaries and I learned a lot from them!  My new companion is..... ELDER STRONG!!  He is from Bankroft, Idaho, fresh off the plane, and is so awesome. I have been amazed at his urgency in the work, his faith, and his desire to serve the Lord.  He has been a great example to me already, and am excited to keep learning from him.  The first couple days in Douliu have been great,  we have seen some amazing miracles and are meeting so many awesome people.  We are starting to find some people to meet with for this upcoming week.  

One man in particular we met; Friday night we wanted to go tracting but had no idea where anything was, so we said a prayer and found a street of homes that seemed like a good place. As we starting tracting, nobody was really interested. But all of a sudden a man from down the street came out of his house and yelled to us to come talk to him.  My first thoughts were "uh oh, what is does this guy want?" But then quickly realized he had good intentions!  He said his son was inside and wanted to talk with us.  We went in a sat down with his very interested 26 year old son!  He was very interested in why we are here and what the Book of Mormon is.  GOLDEN. Haha We shared with him a short message of the Restoration and read with him in the Book of Mormon, he was more than willing to read! It was a miracle and I was so happy that Elder Strong in his first week here could experience such a cool thing!  Every day my testimony of modern day miracles is strengthened.  No matter how big or small they are acts of mercy from the Lord!

The ward here in Douliu already seems awesome! They have not had Elders in about 6 weeks so they were very happy to see us!  Me and Elder Strong both spoke in Sacrament and President Teh came as well!

Elder Henderson

 First Gatorade in a Year!! He said it tasted weird!! He bought it at a Filipino Store.

 Elder Henderson spoke in church yesterday along with his companion and his mission president Elder Teh. There have not been Elders in this ward for about 6 weeks.  Elder Henderson spoke about as we each read the Book of Mormon everyday we will see a difference in our lives and will become a better influence/example on our friends and they will want to hear the gospel! We want to do the work together!

 Elder Henderson's New Companion, Mikey is Training Elder Strong from Idaho! Besides some culture shock Elder Strong is doing awesome!! Very motivated to learn and teach!

Transfer to Douliu

What a great final week I had in Fengyuan.  After 7.5 months, i'm leaving! I love the area and the people.  As I look back on the experience, I truly believe from the day I got there until now I am a completely different person and more importantly a completely different disciple of the Lord.  Every companion, every situation, was exactly what I needed! I am grateful for our Heavenly Father in giving me the opportunity to have the experiences I had there. I have made many eternal friends. 

I am moving to an area called Douliu in central Taiwan, and will be training, so my new comp will get to Taiwan and I will meet him on Thursday! In the mean time I am in an area called Tanzi, right next to Fengyuan, with an Elder Provard and an Elder Barker!

Sorry I don't have a lot of time, next weeks email will be better!!
