First Week In Fengyuen!

Super good first week here in Fengyuan! Sorry this is going to be short because I do not have a lot of time, but the area is awesome, super cold compared to Lingya.  Lot's of work to be done in this area and we basically just contacted straight all week!

Miracle though.  We got a referral from a boarding area of a guy who is awesome.  We met with him for the first time on Tuesday.  He has already read the entire Book of Mormon and has every pamphlet that the Church provides for investigators.  He is incredible.  The only problem is, coming to church....Because of his job it is super hard for him to come to church.  We are trying to help him work that out so he can get baptized!!

The Lord definitely qualifies his servants for the work and leads us to those that are prepared!

Love,
Elder Henderson

Elder Henderson sent this to us so we thought we would add it to the blog...

This is what I wrote to President Teh this week...It has been a great first week in Fengyuan and I am so grateful for this new phase of my mission.  Elder Hatch is awesome and we are getting along great.  I know that this change truly was inspired by God.  As I have been in this new area, I have kind of started to have a new look at my mission.  One that has brought a lot more faith in the Lord and more confidence in the message that we are bringing.  I have gained so much more confidence in myself and my ability.  The more I trust in the Lord the more comfortable I feel!  Last night we had a very special contact.  Before going out and contacting last night, I prayed that we as a companionship would have more opportunities to testify. We were walking down the street and saw a 16 year old boy sitting outside a store so we went and talked to him.   As we started talking, we took out the Book of Mormon and testified of its truthfulness.  Never has the spirit come over me so strong in a contact before, and I had the impression to ask him if he was feeling something special.  As I asked He responded with no, but I with positivity I know he did.  Because He then gave us his phone number and agreed to meet another day.  This experience helped me realize the importance of just testifying.  We can tell people all about the church, but until we testify from our hearts they won't feel anything.

 The Fengyuan Church Building!!
Fengyuan looks a lot more rural than his last city!
Elder Henderson said, because of Chinese New Year no one is out during the day. At night they Party!

 Beautiful Scenery!!

Elder Henderson said they have been invited to members homes everyday for meals because of the New Year Celebration! He said lots of traditional Taiwanese food!
He said there is no Costco in his new area, he's going to really miss that!!

First Transfer!!

I finished training!!  We have had  a lot of progress with our investigators and there should be at least 2 baptisms in Lingya in February! But today, I got transferred! Literally from one end of the mission all the way to the other! I am now in a city called Fengyuan, which is the very most north eastern corner of our mission, up in Taichung! I am excited for the new experience! Lingya has been an amazing area!

I had a special experience on the train ride over.  As i got on the train this morning, I sat next to a lady probably in her 50's.  We started talking and it turns out she lives in Vancouver, Canada and is here visiting family.  We talked a lot about our lives and why I was here.  I told her i was a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints.  She had never seen missionaries before and so I explained our purpose to her.  She said she was Christian and so I asked her why she thought there we so many different christian churches on the earth.  She hadn't ever thought about it before,  I began to tell her about the story of Joseph Smith and how he had this same question.  It was very powerful and I felt the spirit.  After I shared, I could tell she was touched.  I told her that if she ever sees missionaries in Vancouver she should go talk to them, because this is special message that can really bless her life.  She said she will if she has the opportunity.

This was a very powerful and special experience for me.  The Lord is preparing souls everywhere to hear this special message and they can feel the truthfulness of it.  I know I was supposed to be on that train, in that seat today, to help her hear a little bit about the restoration.  I don't know if she will ever see missionaries in Vancouver but I know she now knows that these missionaries have a special message.

Love you all have a great week!

Great Week!!

We have had a really good week!  Started off with splits,  Me and Elder Kwok went on splits together in my area, Lingya. It was an awesome experience to be able to lead the contacts in my area and really see that I could do it!  We met a very cool guy, that pulled up next to me at a light.  I started talking to him and then asked if he could pull over to talk some more.  He agreed and we then had a 45 talk with him about the difference between other Christians churches and our church.  I pulled out the Book of Mormon and told him that we have this Book.  That it is another testament of Jesus Christ,  We then read Alma 7:11-13 with him.  Which testifies of Jesus Christ, his role, and what he would do on Earth.  This is a big way we share here in Taiwan, it's pretty different than anywhere else, by contacting at street lights and stuff.  There are soo many people on scooters so we just talk to them at lights and these kinds of miracles happen!  There are so many people in the world that just have the wrong idea about our church.  I am so grateful for the opportunity to help people understand what we believe and help them gain a relationship with our Savior.

We had two awesome investigators come to church this week.  Both are progressing a lot.  The coolest part of the week.  A ward member came up to her and asked if she was checking out our church, and our investigator responded "No, in a couple weeks i'm going to be an active member"  She knows it's true and it's so cool to see her testimony growing!

This week I have been reading in Mosiah about Abinadi.  He was such a righteous man and preached the Gospel with a desire to do the will of God and help Kind Noah and his people.  Maybe he did not see the results of his testimony,  but they were there.  Because He had the courage to stand in front of King Noah and the wicked priests and testify of Christ, so much good came to pass through Alma.  It all starts with a personal testimony of Christ, and that will give you the courage to share and preach! Doesn't matter if you are on a mission or not you can be a good example to others and help them feel of the love of Christ!

Hope you all have a great week!

Love
Elder Henderson
