Happy New Year! (新年快樂!)

Happy New Year!!!!

We have had a pretty good week! Started out with Christmas, the afternoon of Christmas day we went to a member's side of the road food stand and passed out candy, pens, and balloons to little kids and wore Christmas hats and stuff. It was super fun.  Giving on Christmas is a lot more rewarding than receiving.  I love the Christmas season and the chance to serve Christ as we celebrate him, and the beginning of it all, overcoming spiritual and physical death.

This week we were blessed with a new investigator, Brother Cai.  He calls himself as "religious student" and is very intrigued by the concept of modern day revelation and the Book of Mormon. We have been very grateful to help him learn of the restored gospel, we hope he continues to progress.

Last night we went over to the Bishop's house for dinner and shared a spiritual message and i wanted to share the principle with all of you.  We watched a video based on a conference talk given by Elder Wilford W. Andersen of the 70. He talks of a comparison to the gospel that I think is amazing. He compares the Gospel to dancing.  When people dance without music they look awkward or strange, but with music it is normal and fun. (For some, I can't dance haaha)  He talked about how Most parents (and I also took it as missionaries), successfully teach people to dance (live the teachings of the gospel, keep the commandments) but lack in teaching others to hear the music. (feel the joy and happiness that the gospel brings to our lives).  As we learn the teachings of Christ and start to apply them in our lives, we need to be looking and recognizing the music. (the happiness the gospel brings).  If people we know or Us personally are struggling with hearing the music, I invite you to take a step back and think about how your life would be without the gospel, or if you have never heard the music of the gospel (felt the happiness it brings), I invite you to do what it takes to feel of it's power and joy.  I truly know as we start to dance and live the teachings of the Gospel, we feel the Spirit and much joy.  I know this because of my experience! I have felt it, i can't deny it, and I have become so much more happy in my life because of it!!😁

There was a nice concert going on last night right next to our apartment celebrating the new year, pretty loud! We have had a pretty good week here, nothing too special.  I went to the doctor and got liquid nitrogen sprayed on my ingrown toenail! hahah

Life is great, love you all!!

聖誕節快樂 (Merry Christmas)

聖誕節快樂 (Merry Christmas)
What a great first week it has been with Elder Sano! He is great missionary with so much heart and very smart in doing the work. I have learned so much from him already and excited to keep improving together. I feel our companionship unity is so strong already and will continue to grow.

This last week we met a fillipino lady at a 7/11 and sat down to talk with her. As we did, we had the opportunity to share with her the Restoration of the gospel and the role of the Book of Mormon in helping us better understand Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. She began to pour her heart out to us and tell us how hard it was for her to be here working, and struggles with her family. It was such a tender moment to be able to share with this lady, as it seemed she was just about at her breaking point. We read with her in the introduction of the Book of Mormon and the spirit just testified to each of us present that it was true. As all of this was happening she just started crying and could not hold it in. It was such an amazing experience that I will hold close forever, it helped me to realize that the Lord strengthens us when we need it most.

As I have been out on a mission I have developed a love for the Lord and Heavenly Father that I never had before. It has changed me forever.

This week I was reading in the 3rd Book of Nephi and I was so amazed at the words the Lord spoke to Nephi, (he was praying for the Lord's help as they were getting persecuted because of their belief that Jesus Christ was going to be born) the Lord said this   the night before he came into the world:

13Lift up your head and be of good cheer; for behold, the time is at hand, and on this night shall the sign be given, and on the morrow come I into the world, to show unto the world that I will fulfil all that which I have caused to be spoken by the mouth of my holy prophets.
14 Behold, I come unto my own, to fulfil all things which I have made known unto the children of men from the foundation of the world, and to do the will, both of the Father and of the Son—of the Father because of me, and of the Son because of my flesh. And behold, the time is at hand, and this night shall the sign be given.

Let us all remember the true meaning of Christmas, that Christ is our Savior!

Love you all!

聖誕節快到了

Hello! Transfer calls are here and I am getting a new companion! Elder Sano from Farmington, Utah.  He just finished being trained, so he is pretty new to Taiwan.  I am super excited for this next transfer!

Elder Whitworth and I had a great last week of the transfer together! He is a great missionary with a lot of heart! I am very grateful for the time I had to be with and learn from him.  On Tuesday we ran into a 17 year high school student that we had run into a couple weeks ago, we still don't remember it but he sure did and was super excited to see us again. We met with him a couple times this week and really has a desire to change his life for the better. He set a baptismal goal for February and was very excited!

This past week I went on exchanges with my second comp in Taiwan Elder Hatch! It was super super fun and brought back a lot of really good memories. And just like that he is headed home today. Super crazy to see another comp go home!

On thursday we sisters and us were invited by a member to attend a Christmas event at her work. We were able to introduce ourselves and the church to over 40 of her co-workers and also sing a couple hymns. The spirit that was there was so powerful as we were able to talk with and strengthen these new friends in Christ. We have faith that they will soon come to know of the truthfulness of Christ's gospel and the true meaning of Christmas!

Merry Christmas everyone!!

I have a Smart Phone.

Hello!!

We have had another great week here in Chaozhou!  We have been working hard to find some new people to teach and are using different methods.  So this last week we went out to another city by Chaozhou and visited a college! Wow we saw many miracles, lots of people willing to talk and meet.  We have really started to see as we branch off and try new things (intelligent and inspired planning) the Lord will put people in our path that he is preparing to hear the the message of the restoration.

We expressed our desire to find service opportunities this week with our ward mission leader and he helped us out a lot!  This past week he invited our district of missionaries to help watch over and serve at a local middle school "fun run", where all of the students ran a race around the town. We were placed at different locations to direct the students as they participated.  It was such an awesome experience, the students would get so happy when they saw us and we had many parents of the students drive by and thank us for our service!  As we did this, i was just sooo happy! It was great to see the church and the community come together for a righteous cause. I truly believe that each one of those probably 700+ students now have good feelings towards our church and I am very anxious for their future meetings with our Church!

Last night we had a Missionary fireside for the ward and it went super awesome.  Sister Chambers brought a great activity to it called the "21 day promise" it is where each member of the ward sets goals to help Less-active and non-member friends come unto Christ.  I truly believe as our ward starts to try new things to help the work, the Lord will bless the people of Chaozhou!

I am so grateful for this chance to serve and work to help these people come unto Christ!

Love you all, thank you for all the love and support!

PS We got our smart phones this week!!:)

#光照世人 #lighttheworld

Hello!  It has been a great week here in Chaozhou with me and Elder Whitworth!!  It started with a great mission tour that was very spiritually uplifting.  It really got me and my companion thinking about how we can improve with the area we have been assigned by you and the Lord.  As we have contemplated how we can improve we have been inspired to be a little better and work harder in some areas,  escpecially planning, and working as hard as we can in the time we have.  And it has really paid off! We saw some very big miracles this week! We are trying to focus on being the best missionary we can at every stage of the work.

Elder Whitworth and I have been trying our best to do the light the world campaign every single day and we have seen great miracles because of it!  Day 1: We gave a treat to a lady that we tracted into and watched the "Light the world" video with her.  She seemed to enjoy it and said we can come back another and share more about Jesus Christ's church.  We have seen many miracle lately!
We met 5 new investigators this week! We met them street contacting, tracting! Last pday we went and ate lunch in a city called Pingdong and ran into two business men from chaozhou, they tried to start doing their business pitch to me and Elder Whitworth and we just kept it as gospel related as possible and.....they came to church yesterday!! Haha it was super awesome! the one guy said it was like the third time i had contacted him in the last month hahaha i forgot tho. They sell insurance and what we are sharing is much more important than insurance!!
😀

love you all!

感恩節快樂 Happy Thanksgiving!

Hello hope you all had a great thanksgiving!  We had a great one here in Chaozhou!  Nothing too out of the ordinary this week just a lot of contacting and some lessons.

We have had a good week here in Chaozhou! We are trying work hard and be as obedient as possible but haven't been seeing too much success.  Not a lot of people are willing to talk to us.  But that is okay! We are pressing forward and finding the joy in it.  I think it was Saturday night and we hadn't found a new investigator in the week and i was kinda feeling a little down as we were on our way home, and then all of a sudden a peaceful feeling came over me.  I thought, "hey we tried our best and that's all He asks of us."  I am grateful for this simple truth that the Lord taught me!

Thanks for all the love and support. Have a great week!!

Love,

Elder Henderson
